Overweight? Are you sleeping enough?

Struggling to lose weight? As well as needing a balanced diet and regular exercise there is one more crucial factor-  Sleep!

Sleep is a critical part of any weight loss program! Lack of sleep can make you put on weight.  So, silly as it sounds- if you sleep more you could lose more weight! Never thought of that did you?

Dr. Eve Van Cauter from the University of Chicago discovered during research that sleep and hormones are related.  Loss of sleep can be harmful to glucose modulation and the endocrine system.

Another study compared the effects of sleep on appetite on people who slept for four and ten hours.  Those who slept for four hours were always hungry and craved salty starchy foods.  This is definitely a hindrance to weight loss.

There is an association between sleep deprivation and obesity, sleep derivation increases the body’s appetite for unhealthy foods.  Females are likely to be more greatly affected.

Further studies have found an inverse relationship between increased body mass index (BMI) and sleep patterns for women. What further proof do you need?
Obviously do not abandon healthy eating and regular exercise, but make sure you combine healthy sleeping patterns with these and you will find weight loss easier.
Don’t risk you weight loss plan not working because you don’t allow yourself enough sleep and relaxation! You’ll only regret it!
